Locally known as “The Valley” San Fernando Valley is an urbanized valley located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area of southern California, defined by the mountains of the Transverse Ranges. Home to 1.76 million people, it lies north of the larger and more populous Los Angeles Basin. Nearly two thirds of the Valley’s land area is part of the City of Los Angeles. The other incorporated cities in the valley are Glendale, Burbank, San Fernando, Hidden Hills and Calabasas. With more than 100 soundstages producing everything from “Jurassic Park” to “The Tonight Show,” the Valley of the Stars is home to the Walt Disney Company, Universal Studios, Warner Bros., the DreamWorks and Nickelodeon animation studios, CBS Studio Center and NBC.
